MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)

SOS owns three advanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines that help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. Our Widewaters Parkway location in Dewitt is where you'll find the all new GE Wide Bore 1.5Tesla MR unit. This wide open MR is the solution for claustrophobic patients and larger patients who are uncomfortable in a traditional Closed MR. It's faster, stronger and more comfortable than a traditional Open MR. MRI’s are ordered when certain diagnosis’ may not be assessed adequately with other imaging methods such as an x-ray, ultrasound or computed tomography (CT or CAT scanning). MR imaging uses a powerful magnetic field, radiowaves and a computer to produce detailed pictures of soft tissues, bones and virtually all other internal body structures. Sometimes an injection is performed with contrast which will give more detail for some types of studies. These images are read and interpreted by on-site, board certified radiologists at SOS in a timely fashion and images can be examined on a computer monitor or copied to a CD. MRI is a non-invasive procedure and does not use ionizing radiation (x-rays).

Nuclear Medicine
The SOS Nuclear Medicine Department provides Bone Scans for patients to assist in the diagnosis of various orthopedic conditions. If your doctor feels a bone scan is necessary, the procedure will be scheduled and explained to you in detail.

New York Spine and Wellness Center - Located on the second floor of our 5719 Widewaters Parkway Dewitt office and their newest location at 5496 East Taft Road in Liverpool, N.Y., the NYS&W center provides Non Operative Spine Care, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Management and Electrodiagnostic Testing. Doctor's Tiso, Catania, Davis, Tallarico, Calkins and Trusilo all share a common goal of pain reduction and control.

Fitness Forum Physical Therapy & Aquatic Center - Among their six locations, one is located on the second floor of our 5719 Widewaters Pkwy. office and another is located next to our 4888 W. Taft Rd. office. Fitness Forum Physical Therapy & Aquatic Center provides Aquatic Therapy, Physical Therapy, Post-Surgical Rehabilitation, Back/Neck Rehabilitation, Sports/Work Rehabilitation, Hand Therapy, Functional Capacity Evaluations and Fitness Evals & Prescription.

Specialists One Day Surgery Center - We are pleased and proud to offer the latest in orthopedic technique by our board certified surgeons, using modern, state-of-the-art equipment. Our newly built one-day surgery center was designed and built specifically to serve orthopedic patients that do not require an overnight stay in the hospital, even though highly technical procedures and equipment are required.
