New
Procedure Performed
Cervical Disc Replacement
Dr. Warren Wulff has completed training necessary to offer a
new motion preserving procedure for the treatment of symptomatic
cervical radiculopathy that has just recently been approved
by the FDA. The Cervical Disc Replacement can now be used as
an alternative to cervical fusion. For more information on this
procedure, please either call Dr. Wulff at our Widewaters Parkway
office or go to www.prestigedisc.com.
Neural
Scans
We are now performing Neural Scans at our Widewaters Parkway
office. Effective September 20, 2007 the SOS Spine Center has
introduced to our suite of services, Cervical and Lumbar Small
Pain Fiber Nerve Conduction Studies (a.k.a. Neural Scan). This
is a non-invasive study that helps diagnosis nerve root, peripheral
neuropathy as well as detect various sensory neurological impairments.
Office
re-opening
As a result of increased patient volume and the addition of
new providers we will be reopening our Cicero office located
at 5586 Legionnaire Drive in mid November. This will allow SOS
to better meet the needs of our patients in the northern Syracuse
suburbs.
SOS
Announces New Physician Assistant
We are happy to announce the addition of two new Physician Assistants
in October. Ariel McGarry and Mary Anne Lampert are both graduates
of the LeMoyne College Physician Assistant Studies Program.
They will be joining the 17 midlevel practitioners and 21 doctors
who currently practice at Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, PC.
Birmingham
Hip Resurfacing Procedure Offered
SOS is please to announce that Surgical Specialists Dr. Stephen
Bogosian, Dr. Michael Clarke, Dr. Brett Greenky, Dr. Seth Greenky,
Dr. John Parker and Dr. I Michael Vella are all specially trained
in the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing Procedure. Unlike traditional
hip replacement surgery, resurfacing does not remove as much
of the leg bone. Instead, the process simply machines away the
rough damaged surface of the hip joint bones and replaces them
with more durable high carbide cobalt chrome. For more information
on Birmingham Hip Resurfacing, please refer to the link provided
www.newyorkhipresurfacing.com or call our office at (315) 251-3100.
EMG's
SOS is now offering Electromyograms or EMGs as they are more
commonly known on Wednesdays at our Widewaters Parkway office.
An EMG is used to record the electrical activity of muscles.
The tests are most often done when a patient is experiencing
muscle weakness. The EMG helps to distinguish between muscle
conditions that begin in the muscle and muscle weakness due
to nerve disorders. Dr. Charles Scioscia, who is board certified
in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, will be performing
the tests.
