POST A COMMENT

Hello Joe,

I just wanted to write a short note and congratulate you on you progress. I have been following your progress since your recovery began and I have no doubt that you will soon be eating that pizza and drinking that beer.

I have been a fan of yours since I saw you hit that opposite handed home run for Vogels Shoes in the Babe Ruth league down in the Valley back in 1960. I played for Valley Mens Club and as usual, you beat us that game.

I know you will continue to make progress and I hope to hear all of the great accomplishments that are yet in your future.

Dear Carol, Joe and Family,

I am Chris Hewitt Tisha Shiel's sister. I have met you over the years when visiting Syracuse with my boys from California. I am also a good friend of Nancy Collins. I was in Syracuse last July and have followed your progress since the day of the accident, thru Tisha and Marty and Jackie and now thru this website. Although I haven't met Joe in person, I know of his reputation as a physician and human being. My brother-in-law Marty Shiel related a terrific story about a ride to Myrtle Beach he had with Joe and we all had a good laugh about the two of them careening down the highway with Joe at the wheel. Something about Joe nodding off while driving and Marty having to give him a shot in arm every few minutes to keep them on the road!! Well it seems as though Joe will be careening down a highway again very soon with all the terrific progress he seems to be making thus far. Once a winner always a winner. Carol you are a champion in all of this too. I understand the arduous journey you are going thru as my husband had three surgeries (one being an aortic dissection) in 2 years and although he did not have the circumstances of Joe's injury, the situation was one life's greatest challenges. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your entire family. Ask Erica if she remembers Aunt Chris and Eddie and Michael from California. We spent many a summer night in the Shiel's yard with Jackie and Erica when they and the boys were kids. All the best, Christine LLoreda

Dear Joe,
I'm hearing good reports of your progress, not only from the posts which I check often, but from friends like Joe Falcone who are keeping in touch with your close friends and family. I'm very glad things are improving and that you are weathering the inevitable occassional set backs. I often think about you and pray for your recovery. You are one of the most interesting, intelligent people I know and an inspiration to me with your work at CBA. You must be proud of the progress being made at the school as a direct result of your efforts.
Please continue to work hard in your recovery and know that there are many people praying for you.
With warmest personal regards,
John Marshall
