Hi Carol and Joe,
We had our grammar school reunion from Blessed Sacrament last night. Many of our classmates went to CBA with Joe. I wanted you to know that you are both in our thoughts and prayers. The past year has brought a lot of trials but you guys have been amazing. If there is anything I can do please do not hesitate.

Good to get the latest post - sorry about the set-back but you're tough and will beat this recent infection. I wanted to report on the Meyer cousins' reunion in Yakima last weekend - there were 60 or so of cousins, spouses, second cousins, and even some third cousins. Of course the three Aunts were the oldest there. How about that!! Love to you both and continued prayer. Aunt Dort

Hi Dr. Smith,
Sorry to hear about your latest setback but everything else sounds great. You finally got to have some solid food and are moving and getting around better. It is so great to hear that. We are praying for you - it seems to be working.

Our prayers will continue for Joe and the family.

I hope the 2009 S.U. football team, under new leadership, will keep Joe\'s motivation high... the team could use some of Joe\'s motivation.

I look forward to the days when we\'ll all see Joe\'s smiling face at the S.U. football and basketball games.

Best Regards,

Ned Kallfelz (in the event Joe missed the notice, Ned\'s sister Gertrude passed August 7th).

Dear Joe,
My brother is Bill Schmidt, one of your friends from Syracuse. Bill came here to Albany to visit in May and he told me about all you're going through.
I am a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet and I want to let you know that the community is praying daily for you and your family. I follow the updates on your progress and keep the sisters informed.
Blessings on you and those you love.

Dear Joe and Carol----It has been awhile since I last communicated with you "in person" but most days you both are in our thoughts and prayers. I can not imagine the emotions you are going through during this awful roller coaster ride that you are on. Your faithfulness and hope and hard work with all the Love you have for one another and all of the prayers that are prayed WILL carry the day. "God arms me with strength" and will never leave -This is true--Our faith tells us so BUT the feelings you experience must surely challenge your Faith in one way and hopefully strengthen you Faith in other ways. Words and short emails do not express the concern, the love ( yes Joe--even though you were brutal to me on the courts with those flailing elbows!!)and the hope I/we have for the both of you over the weeks and months ahead. I will stay in touch and look forward to the time you both can fly to sunny California and spend some time relaxing and having us show you around!
warm regards
Ralph and Margie

Our family sends thoughts and prayers your way for Joe's recovery. This has been a long road for him and we will continue with him in our prayers forever. Such a terrific man, surgeon, friend and helper to so many people. May God give you the strength and courage to continue with great progress.

With prayers and concern, The Salsbery family: Jeannette, Richard, Richard, Jr., Sheryl, Tina, Robert & Roger.
