Patient Information from SOS

What is Orthopedics?

Orthopedics is the medical specialty focusing on the diagnosis, treatment and repair of bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints and nerves. This includes broken bones, torn ligament and spinal injuries. SOS Orthopedic Surgeons use medical, surgical or physical means to investigate, preserve and restore functions to a patient's extremities or spine. They deal with both primary and secondary musculoskeletal issues of a patient's central nervous system, such as tumors, injuries, degenerative disease, trauma, congenital deformities and infections.

New Patients

It is easy to become a new patient at SOS. New patients may request an appointment and a receptionist will call you back in a timely manner, or you can simply call an office that is most convenient for you between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm weekdays. Call an office should be hyperlinked to the “locations” page.

Most of our physicians travel to one or more of our eight office locations to best meet the needs of our patients. SOS encourages patients to inquire with their insurance carriers to see if a specialist referral is needed. SOS would be happy to help answer any questions you may have regarding this detail.

SOS is excited to join the many healthcare organizations in New York who have become participating members with HealtheConnections (RHIO), a health Information Exchange (HIE). The HIE is the transmission and sharing of medical records electronically among healthcare entities in accordance with national and state technology and security standards. New patients will be asked to provide their written consent for SOS certified clinical users to access their records on the exchange.

Returning Patients

Returning patients are always welcome. We will simply do a quick check to ensure that all your information is up to date, and look forward to taking care of you again.

Rescheduling Appointments

We understand that events can happen unexpectedly and prevent a patient from letting us know of a need to reschedule an appointment. We ask that if you do need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please contact us during business hours, 8am – 4:30pm Monday through Friday. You will be considered a "no-show" if you miss an appointment and do not notify us in advance.
