Department/Site: Billing Office – Site 18 possible WFH after training
Work Week: Mon - Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM - flexible
Job Responsibilities / Knowledge:
- Verifies insurance eligibility and referral requirements for timely and proper pre-certification of initial and continued Physical and Occupational Therapy care. To include Private Carriers, as well as Workers Compensation.
- Works closely with PT OT clinical and front-end staff to ensure Patients care is properly authorized.
- Exhibits Customer service SOS CARES concepts and techniques when dealing with referring offices, patients, co-workers and the public.
- Prioritizes & organizes workload/space to achieve high productivity.
- Ensures faxes sent to insurance company timely to obtain prior approval are complete and professional.
- Possesses medical terminology background.
- Documents clearly on patient accounts steps taken and status of insurance authorization.
- Updates and notifies billing with any patient insurance changes that he/she is made aware of verifying change with patient.
- Use of correct billing CPT codes for proper authorization requests as necessary.
- Notifies SOS Billing Dept. and Clinic of any uncertain situations including but not limited to any unusually large fees (ie: Co pays/deductibles) due from the patient or in any self-pay situations for proper pre-payment arrangements.
- Takes responsibility for staying updated on SOS insurance participation and other specific details related.
- Relay’s feedback regarding any insurance accessibility, hold time, incorrect information given to SOS management for appropriate insurance representative notification.
