We are looking for W-2 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) for our state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center Specialists One-Day Surgery Center in North Syracuse, NY.

Compensation & Financial Incentives
•    Base Salary: $295,000
•    Sign-On Bonus: Up to $100,000
•    Relocation Assistance: One-time stipend up to $5,000

•    Shift Options: 8 or 10 hour shifts

Position Summary
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides safe, efficient, and high-quality anesthesia care in a collaborative outpatient surgical environment. The CRNA delivers anesthesia services for a wide range of orthopedic surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and effective perioperative management.


Accountability
The CRNA is directly accountable to the Chief of Anesthesia of Specialists One-Day Surgery Center and collaborates closely with attending Anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the surgical services team to ensure excellent patient outcomes. The CRNA also participates in peer review, credentialing, and quality improvement processes as required.


Qualifications
1. Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in New York State.
2. Graduation from an accredited Nurse Anesthesia educational program.
3. Certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the NBCRNA.
4. Current BLS and ACLS 
5. Prior experience in outpatient or orthopedic anesthesia preferred.
6. Membership in professional organizations such as AANA or NYSANA encouraged.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides clinical direction and collaboration with anesthesia and surgical team members.
- Acts as a clinical resource for nurses and other healthcare staff in anesthesia-related care and patient safety.


Physical & Cognitive Requirements
The CRNA must be able to engage in physically and mentally demanding activities required in the surgical environment:
1. Hepatitis, rubella, and measles immunization (or documented refusal/exception).
2. Annual tuberculosis screening (Mantoux or chest x-ray).
3. Annual health assessment sufficient to ensure ability to perform duties safely.
4. Ability to stand for long periods, assist in patient transfers, and respond rapidly to critical events.
5. Physically able to perform CPR and advanced resuscitation procedures.
6. Ability to sustain concentration for extended periods, exercise critical judgment under pressure, and respond quickly to emergent clinical situations.
Typical Working Conditions
Work is performed in a ambulatory surgical center environment with exposure to bloodborne pathogens, communicable diseases, anesthetic agents, radiation, and other occupational hazards common to healthcare.

Currently, no Patients under 10 years of age. 


Responsibilities
I. Preoperative Assessment & Planning
- Conduct pre-anesthesia evaluations, including patient history, physical exam, and risk assessment.
- Develop and implement individualized anesthetic care plans.
- Obtain informed consent and educate patients/families regarding anesthesia care.
- Ensure preoperative documentation and required clearances are complete.

II. Intraoperative Anesthesia Care
- Administer anesthesia (general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care) under the supervision and/or collaboration of attending Anesthesiologists, consistent with state law and facility policy.
- Continuously monitor and manage patient status, including hemodynamic, respiratory, and neurologic function.
- Anticipate, prevent, and manage perioperative complications.
- Maintain aseptic technique and safe use of medications, equipment, and monitoring devices.

III. Postoperative Management
- Provide safe emergence from anesthesia and handoff to PACU staff.
- Manage postoperative pain control strategies.
- Collaborate with recovery staff in monitoring and stabilizing patients.
- Document anesthesia care accurately and promptly, including unusual occurrences.

IV. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Adhere to AANA standards, CMS, AAAHC, and Joint Commission guidelines.
- Participate in peer review, Morbidity & Mortality reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with SOS credentialing, privileging, and reappointment requirements.
- Assist in equipment evaluation, troubleshooting, and safe utilization.

V. Professional & Collaborative Duties
- Participate in clinical education and serve as a mentor/resource to nursing and ancillary staff.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and perioperative team members to optimize patient care.
- Contribute to policy development, evaluation of new anesthesia techniques, and departmental initiatives.
- Maintain continuing education requirements and participate in CME to sustain CRNA certification and licensure.
