I am excited and proud to tell you about a special event I am participating in – The Taste of Success - Celebrity Chef Challenge! This will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the SRC Arena at Onondaga Community College. All proceeds will DIRECTLY benefit HILLSIDE WORK-SCHOLARSHIP CONNECTION (HW-SC) in Syracuse.
Taste of Success Celebrity Chef Challenge is an opportunity to enjoy a unique culinary and networking experience. Guests will enjoy socializing while tasting special recipes care of Wegmans professional Chefs, along with fine wines and the best of craft brews. And, in addition, local community and business leaders ACTING AS CHEFS – that’s me - will serve up these dishes!
Most importantly, ALL DOLLARS RAISED will support the HILLSIDE WORK- SCHOLARSHIP CONNECTION program in Syracuse. Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection is a nationally-recognized youth development program. HW-SC HELPS over 1,300 AT-RISK YOUTH living in poverty, right here in our community. They STAY IN SCHOOL, GRADUATE from high school, and continue on to post-secondary education or EMPLOYMENT.
The backbone of this program are the YOUTH ADVOCATES. They are there to get the students through their day of school. After school, they are also there to tutor these students to bring them toward graduation from high school. The graduation rate in the Hillside students is over 90% (versus a general graduation rate from the 5 Syracuse city high schools of 64%). Besides the great food, wine and networking opportunities, the fun of the event is the “Chef Challenge.” Celebrity chefs challenge each other to raise the most financial support. I will be challenging other chefs to match my effort.
