Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists Recognizes National Athletic Training Month 2024

Athletic Trainers Play Crucial Role in Health and Safety of Athletes

National Athletic Training Month

Each March is designated National Athletic Training Month, sponsored by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), the professional membership organization for certified athletic trainers. This month, Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) is recognizing their athletic trainers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep athletes on the fields and courts, providing comprehensive care from “Head to Toe.”

Athletic trainers play a crucial role in sports medicine, providing injury prevention, emergency care, clinical assessment, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation services. SOS sports medicine physicians work closely with athletic trainers to provide sideline medical assistance and collaborative care to return athletes to their sport as quickly but safely as possible. SOS partners with many local school districts, colleges, semi-pro, and youth organizations to provide athletic training services for thousands of athletes each year.

“Athletic trainers with SOS are unsung heroes to our local athletes, providing crucial medical care, injury prevention, and rehabilitation services to ensure athletes can perform at their best,” says Dr. Todd Battaglia, president of SOS and head of the SOS sports medicine team. “Their expertise and commitment are invaluable in keeping athletes healthy and safe, allowing them to push their limits and achieve their goals.”

Athletic trainers provide care that keeps people active and healthy in work, life, and sport. Throughout March, NATA will host various events and initiatives to highlight the importance of athletic trainers and the impact they have on the overall well-being of athletes. From educational seminars to community outreach programs, they aim to raise awareness about the vital role these healthcare providers play in keeping athletes safe and healthy.
