SOS Welcomes Dr. David A. Quinzi to the Joint Replacement Team

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists is pleased to announce David A. Quinzi, MD, has joined its Joint Replacement Team. A fellowship trained surgeon he is joining the SOS Joint Replacement Program, known as one of the nation’s best with more than 3,000 surgeries performed annually.

Prior to joining SOS, Dr. Quinzi completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction surgery at the Rothman Institute in New Jersey. He completed his residency at the University of Rochester Medical Center and received his medical degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. Dr. Quinzi received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell University, graduating with distinction. He has already published in several peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and presented at many conferences.

“Dr. Quinzi is great asset to our joint replacement team, and we are excited to have him join SOS,” stated Mike Humphrey, CEO, Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists. “We welcome him back to Syracuse and know his expertise will benefit many patients in Central New York.” Dr. Quinzi notes his desire to be at SOS, “I wanted to be in Syracuse and SOS is the big player.”

Dr. Quinzi has a patient specific orientation when it comes to patient care. “Every patient has a life story to share. They aren’t just a hip or a knee to me. I get to know the patient, not just their surgical needs.” Dr. Quinzi explains that nearly 40% - 50% of his orthopedic fellowship was training with new robotics technologies. “This technology can be useful for more complex cases, those with preexisting hardware or different challenges,” says Dr. Quinzi. At SOS, Dr. Quinzi has access to the CORI Surgical System for robotic-assisted joint replacement surgery and is certified with the MAKO for robotic assisted total knee, partial knee, and hip replacement.
